Syrian state television has claimed that the leader of Isis is dead.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the world’s most wanted terrorist, was allegedly killed in an airstrike on Raqqa this weekend.
There have been numerous posts on social media celebrating his apparent demise.
The government broadcaster released a photograph they claimed was of the Isis leader.
However, the reports are not confirmed and have been treated with suspicion.
Isis’s own news agency, Amaq, has not confirmed whether it is true.
Al-Baghdadi has been reported dead before, and the reports could be a propaganda attempt to sway public opinion positively towards the government.
