Drive-By Shooting of Cops on Foot Patrol; Manhunt Underway
Drive-By Shooting of Cops on Foot Patrol; Manhunt UnderwayTwo NYPD officers were walking foot patrol on Tuesday night when a dark sedan, occupied by four black males, pulled up and the occupants made a statement about “getting them.” At least one of the occupants then opened fire on the police officers. The police officers were not hit by any of the shots. NYPD has been unable to locate the suspects at the time of this writing.
A massive manhunt is underway after two officers on patrol were shot at by a person inside a car in Brooklyn.
The shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. on Ditmas Ave. and E. 23rd St. within the confines of the 70th Precinct in Flatbush.
The NYPD said two officers in uniform were walking their post when a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows slowly approached them and made a statement about “getting them” before firing away at the cops.
The vehicle occupied by four men, described as black, fled the scene, police said.
Both of the officers were not hurt.
Police are investigating whether the same vehicle was responsible for threatening police at the 66th Precinct on Monday around 4:30 p.m. A similar car drove by and made a “gun gesture” to officers standing outside, according to the NYPD.
A few New York City bridges, including Verrazano-Narrows, Brooklyn and Manhattan were temporarily closed in search of the gunman.
This attack is just one more in the ongoing string of unprovoked attacks on law enforcement officers. Thankfully, these officers were able to make it home safe.
The false narrative of groups like Black Lives Matter inspires these terrorist attacks on law enforcement. It has been shown time and time again that police officers are no more likely to kill black people more than any others, and that Black Lives Matter uses imaginary statistics. Let’s fight back against these attacks by fighting back against these lies. Tell the world that attacks on law enforcement need to stop.
