Trump recognizes US is engaged in a ‘cultural civil war’

In one of his most momentous speeches of his presidency, US President Donald Trump vowed to fight against the “insidious hard core neo-Marxist totalitarian political agenda” currently plaguing the west, according to Sky News host Rowan Dean. Donald Trump has blasted "angry mobs" trying to tear down statues as he claimed protesters are attempting to "wipe out" US history in a speech to mark America's Independence Day. The US president addressed more than 7,000 supporters at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Following weeks of protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in police custody, Mr Trump criticized demonstrators who have destroyed or damaged monuments of Confederate leaders and other historical figures. Mr Dean said President Trump was displaying strong conservative leadership “that recognizes just how pernicious and dangerous, and successful, the left's march through our institutions has been.” “Trump then went through the achievements and philosophies of the four great presidents carved up behind him on the side of Mount Rushmore, repeatedly and cleverly reminding the audience, and America, that in tearing down statues and symbols, the thugs, criminals and anarchists are attempting to destroy the soul of the nation,” Mr Dean said. “Donald Trump is doing what I have been crying out for for weeks... that recognizes just how pernicious and dangerous, and successful, the left's march through our institutions has been. The culture wars are real. We are under attack. You can pretend it's not your problem, like Scott Morrison does, or you can run up the white flag, like Boris Johnson has. But in the end, the reason the Left keeps falling in elections is because the great silent majority know, as Trump does, that this is a values and ideas war that we must win.” US media becoming ‘de facto propaganda arm’ of Democratic party
