ree teenage girls have been charged after Chicago police released surveillance photos showing a group of teens robbing women in downtown this month, authorities said.
The girls — two of them 15 and the other 13 — were each charged with felony counts of robbery, police said in a statement. The 13-year-old was also charged with a misdemeanor count of battery. The three were expected to appear in Cook County Juvenile Court on Friday, but it was not immediately known if they were being charged as juveniles or adults.
Police said the girls turned themselves in after they were identified in surveillance photos released earlier in the week.
In each robbery, a group of teens went up to a woman or girl and hit her in the head, police said in an alert this week. Victims were also kicked. The robbers took cellphones and backpacks containing tablets, then fled on foot.
