When he arrived in the 13600 block of State Road 13 he observed the line down and obstructing traffic. Trooper Ellsworth was in the roadway attempting to alert an approaching semi-tractor trailer driver of the downed wire so the truck would not strike the line when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The 2006 Chevrolet passenger car that struck Ellsworth was driven by a 16-year-old girl and she remained at the scene after the crash.
