A rookie cop whose dad is an NYPD union leader has been stripped of his badge and gun over an off-duty shooting incident in Queens, The Post has learned.
Kevin Lynch allegedly fled the scene, as did another unidentified cop, who fired a single round through the roof of a pick-up truck in Whitestone on Sunday, sources said.
A third man, identified only as a civilian, also ran away following the incident inside a Chevy Silverado that was left parked on a street, sources said.
The civilian was tracked down by cops after a neighbor called 911 to report hearing the gunshot, and he identified Lynch and the other cop, sources said.
The cop who pulled the trigger was suspended without pay, sources said.
Lynch, who graduated from the Police Academy in 2014, is the son of Patrick Lynch, longtime president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, which is the NYPD’s largest union.
Patrick Lynch has an older son, also named Patrick, who joined the NYPD in 2012.
