A police officer shot and wounded a man in Queens Friday night after he brandished a gun, according to cops.
Two officers confronted Jamel Ethridge, 40, in a building, of a housing project, at 116-80 Guy R Brewer Boulevard at 9:23 p.m, while they were on a vertical patrol of the stairwell, cops said.
Ethridge brandished a 9mm pistol and refused the officer’s orders to drop the weapon. An officer then shot Ethridge in the leg.
He was treated for his wound at Jamaica Hospital, the source said.
Ethridge served five years in jail for attempted murder and has been arrested multiple times for criminal possession of a weapon.
“They’ve been having problems with him,” said a building resident who asked not to be identified.
“He has a bad history.”
The pistol was recovered by police at the scene.
