NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association establishes GoFundMe campaign to establish a scholarship for the children of murdered Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo.
New York- The NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association, whose 13,000 members make it the fifth largest police union in the country, has established a GoFundMe campaign to establish a scholarship for the children of murdered Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo, who was murdered by a career criminal while on duty and assigned to the 43 Precinct in the Bronx on November 4.
Sgt. Tuozzolo and other officers attempted to arrest a heavily armed man who had just broke into the home of his estranged wife.
Another sergeant, Emmanuel Kwo, was shot and wounded during the violent encounter and the gunman was killed.
Sgt. Tuozzolo is survived by his wife and two sons, ages 3 and 4. The GoFundMe campaign will be used to establish a scholarship fund for the children of the slain sergeant now and in the future. The campaign address is: https://www.gofundme.com/SergeantTuozzolo
Donations are welcome from the private and public sector, and all monies raised will go toward the children’s education. Additionally, donations can be made to the SBA Widows and Children’s Fund and sent to the SBA Office: 35 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013 Attn: Sgt. Tuozzolo Scholarship Fund.
"The loss of Sgt. Tuozzolo is an absolute tragedy," said SBA President Ed Mullins. "The SBA will be there for them now- and forever. There is nothing that can be done now to ease their pain, but it is important that this fund be established to assist them during the many challenges that lie ahead."
