17 Oct 1989 - NYPD Police Officer Anthony Dwyer was killed when he was pushed from a rooftop during a struggle with a suspect.
He and other officers had responded to a robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Times Square. Officer Dwyer chased one of the suspects to the roof of the building where the suspect pushed him off of the roof into an air shaft. The suspect was apprehended and sentenced to 25 years to life. He has been denied parole 3 times; his next scheduled hearing is 2020. Tony was only 23 years old and had been a police officer for two years.

Byrne has a hearing Friday to plead with the parole board to keep his brother Edward Byrne’s killers in prison. The panel will have hearings with Phillip Copeland, Scott Cobb, Todd Scott and David McClary in the future to determine whether to grant them parole.
No mystery here....the guy attacked a cop and was acting irrationally. Unarmed so tased, not shot.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said deputies encountered Okobi "running in and out of traffic" on a street in Millbrae, a city about 30 miles northwest of Silicon Valley.
Okobi "immediately assaulted" a deputy who got out of his vehicle, the statement said. There was a struggle with other deputies who responded.
