Two Chicago officers relieved of police authority after shooting
Apparently procedural infraction. The third officer who fired was cleared in that regard. Investigation ongoing. Perp used stolen car as a deadly weapon
July 30 (Reuters) - Two Chicago officers were stripped of their police authority on Friday after a preliminary investigation found they may have violated department policies during a shooting the day before, the department said.
Three police officers shot and killed an 18-year-old man on Thursday after he sideswiped a squad car and another vehicle with a stolen Jaguar he was driving when police tried to arrest him, the Chicago Police Department said in a statement. The man was identified as Paul O'Neal, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Police in Mass. rally against Black Lives Matter banner at City Hall
SOMERVILLE, Mass. -- About 50 police officers and their supporters upset about a Black Lives Matter banner that has been hanging outside City Hall for a year rallied on Thursday to try to pressure the mayor to remove it.
The primarily white opponents of the banner broke into chants of "All lives matter!" and "Take it down!" Many held signs saying "Cops lives matter" and "Support your local police."
Harold MacGilvray, president of a coalition representing 1,500 officers in 26 communities, said a public building like Somerville's City Hall is "no place" for political slogans to be displayed.
PRAYERS. Story is developing. Unknown if they were targeted by BLM/ Black Panther terrorists or related to a car stop. Gang Unit.
DEVELOPING – One San Diego police officer was killed and another one wounded when a driver they stopped Thursday night opened fire on them in the latest in a series of cop shootings around the nation.
The suspected shooter was arrested, and police said they were not pursuing any other suspects. Neither the police officers' nor the alleged gunman's names were immediately released.

— San Diego Police (@SanDiegoPD) July 29, 2016The determination that the killer acted alone followed a long manhunt in the city's Southcrest neighborhood involving SWAT teams, helicopters and squad cars.
Video footage showed officers out in force with numerous squad cars with emergency lights flashing lining a street, officers on foot, and a helicopter buzz overhead.
Police said the officers were shot while making a stop and immediately called for help. The officer who died was shot multiple times.
The shooting comes with law officers around the country on alert following the killing of officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this month.
Five Dallas police officers were killed July 7 by a sniper as they guarded Black Lives Matter protesters, and three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers were targeted and killed by a gunman on July 16.
Statistics show the number of police officers killed in the line of duty had been on a downward trajectory since 1970. But this year, cop deaths are up more than 50 percent, and the victims in Dallas, Baton Rouge and other cases were targeted for assassination rather than killed in the process of confronting dangerous criminals.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the number of officers fatally shot is already up 56 percent compared with last year.
Baltimore AG Mosby Shamelessly Goes After Police, Media For Losing Freddie Gray Case!
After losing the first three trials, State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said she was dropping the charges against the three remaining officers. Why? She says because of an “inherent bias” in the system, it was a “dismal likelihood” she could secure a conviction on the remaining three. Really? Is she concluding the black judge has a bias, because the only ones left are in her own office. The only bias we’ve seen in this case is a state attorney, who decided to bring charges to appease a mob! No officer or lawyer, in their right mind, believed she could secure convictions in these cases. This woman should be disbarred for malicious prosecution!
"Many of the police officers in the United States are African-American and Hispanic, and their lives are on the line just as much as the white police officers."
Mayor Rudy Giuliani slammed the Democratic Party for pushing "the racial narrative that we are a divided country, and we're not."
A teen who threatened to “shoot one of these” cops at the Port Authority Bus Terminal Wednesday was arrested after a homeless man turned him in, sources said.
Florida resident Hunter Lee Taylor, 18, was allegedly smoking marijuana with George Pugh in the terminal at about 4 p.m. when Taylor motioned toward a PAPD cop and said, “I’d like to off that guy,” according to PA sources.
“I was hanging out with the guy. He told me he wanted to shoot a cop,” Pugh told The Post. “I didn’t believe him. Then he showed me the gun.”
Pugh said that he immediately found the nearest PA officers.
“I told them what the guy said and they grabbed him right away,” Pugh said.
Cops said they found a gun in Taylor’s bag. He was facing charges of possession of a firearm and making a terrorist threat.
Officers lauded Pugh, who lives in a homeless shelter. “It’s quite possible he saved a cop’s life tonight,” a law-enforcement source said.
Police shooting deaths reach alarming high in 2016, but there are still fewer cop slayings than previous decades
